Top Cybersecurity Expert Oren Elimelech Visits “Hacked Everyday Life” Exhibition in Sofia

On October 15, internationally renowned cybersecurity expert Oren Elimelech was a special guest at the “Hacked Everyday Life” exhibition, hosted by LEV INS at the Regional History Museum – Sofia. The exhibition presents real-life scenarios of digital attacks in everyday contexts. During his visit, Elimelech shared his impressions of the initiative:
“Cybersecurity is not just a matter of technology—it’s a matter of culture. I’m impressed to see that efforts here are focused precisely on building public awareness and sensitivity to digital risks,” he stated.

Oren Elimelech is a global expert with over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity, data privacy, and information risk management. He has worked across the banking, financial, insurance, energy, healthcare, technology, and defense sectors, as well as in blockchain and cryptocurrency environments. He previously led the Cybersecurity Division at Israel’s Ministry of Transport, where he played a key role in protecting critical infrastructure. He currently serves as a research fellow at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism and is a leading cybersecurity lecturer at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He holds numerous international certifications and is widely recognized as a thought leader in the field of information security.

“In Israel, we are used to thinking strategically about cyber defense. I’m pleased to see that similar initiatives are emerging in Bulgaria—ones that don’t just inform, but provoke critical thinking,” he added. According to Elimelech, the exhibition is more than a display—it is a thoughtfully crafted warning:
“I didn’t expect such a powerful visual interpretation of the topic. This isn’t just an exhibition—it’s a message, delivered intelligently and accessibly.”

Elimelech emphasized the vital role of such initiatives in building societal resilience:
“Exhibitions like this are important because they show that cyber threats are not distant or abstract—they are part of our daily lives. The sooner we realize this, the better we can protect ourselves. What I saw today gives me confidence that we are on the right path.”

The event is part of LEV INS’s educational campaign to raise public awareness about cyber risks and methods of protection. The exhibition is open to all visitors until December 15 in the underground exhibition space beneath the Presidency, with free admission.
