What does the insurance cover:

Direct quantitative damage to crops and the costs of limiting the extent of damage caused only on the territory of Bulgaria are covered.

  • Fruit, vegetable, rose, and blackberry gardens, vineyards, strawberries, raspberries, cultivated rose hips, cultivated blackberries, fruit nurseries, queen bees, rootstocks, medicinal plants, blackcurrants (cassis), hops, seedlings, seedbeds, flowers for seed and sale, crops in greenhouses and hothouses, etc.;
  • Permanent crops as long-term tangible assets (LTA), including newly established and fruiting crops - vineyards, orchards, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cassis, roses, lavender, hops, etc.;
  • Ornamental plants - trees, shrubs, and gardens, outdoor cultivation, ornamental nurseries, etc.;
    Forests and forest belts up to 5 years old, forest nurseries, etc.  
     
Who can benefit:

This insurance policy is suitable for farmers, natural persons, legal entities, and sole traders operating in the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. The insurance can be taken out on the basis of a completed application form with a description of the crops and areas and other data necessary for calculating the insurance premium.

  • Hail;
  • Storm;
  • Heavy rain;
  • Fire;
  • Flood;
  • Late spring and early autumn frost - after 00:00 on April 20 until 00:00 on October 1;
  • Frost and pulling of cereal crops and rapeseed;
  • Drought, on cereal crops and rapeseed;
  • Damage by wild animals;
  • Completely destroyed plants in permanent crops/trees, vines, stumps, shrubs, etc. (completely destroyed plants) as a result of: hail, storm, fire, and frost (including late frost), heavy rain, flooding;
  • Completely destroyed plants in newly created forests and forest belts, up to five years old, forest nurseries - due to hail, storm, heavy rain, frost (including due to leaning/snow breakage)

In the event of an insured event, you must contact your insurer within 7 days of becoming aware of the damage. 

Whether you are a small farmer or manage a large farm, crop insurance helps you maintain stability and avoid financial losses.

It is important to notify the insurer no later than 7 days after the occurrence of an insured event. Your notification must contain the insurance policy number, the date and type of event, as well as a description of the damaged areas. 

The insurance is voluntary and guarantees financial support in the event of damage to crops caused by adverse weather conditions or wild animals. 

It is important to comply with the deadlines for taking out insurance:

  • For frost and drought risk for cereals and rapeseed, the deadline is December 10;
  • For all field crops, the deadline is June 20;
  • For field-grown vegetables and tobacco, the deadline is July 15.
